JOINT INJECTION CLINIC

  JOINT INJECTION CLINIC

Performance Physiotherapy is now able to offer Hydrocortisone joint injections for patents at our Pontypridd clinic.

These injections can be very effective in the management of many types of joint pain by reducing pain and inflammation, allowing patients to move more comfortably and assisting in rehabilitation.

Some of the conditions that may benefit from Hydrocortisone Injection (alongside Physiotherapy) include:

  • Knee pain/osteoarthritis
  • De Quervains tenosynovitis
  • Shoulder/AC joint pain
  • Trochanteric Bursitis
  • Trigger Finger
  • Thumb Joint Pain

*Not all types of joint pain will benefit from injections and not all patients will be suitable.

For this reason, patients are required to undergo an initial consultation with one of our Chartered Physiotherapists who will carry out a thorough assessment to advise you on the nature of your symptoms and whether or not an injection may be suitable, alongside Physiotherapy treatment/rehabilitation.

How Does the Cortisone Injection Process Work?

Our cortisone injection process is designed with your comfort and safety in mind. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Consultation and Assessment:
  • An initial Physiotherapy consultation is booked where our  experienced physiotherapists will first assess your injury or condition to determine if cortisone injections are the most suitable option, or whether other types of Physiotherapy treatment/exercise rehabilitation may be more suitable. If it is then a separate appointment is made for our injection clinic.
  • Injection:
  • At the injection clinic appointment, you are reviewed by our specialist Physiotherapist who will be administering the injection. The injection itself is typically quick, and the Physiotherapist will advise you any post treatment care and and answer any questions you may have.
  • Follow-up:
  • Our physiotherapists will follow up with you to track your progress and ensure the injection is having the desired effect. If needed, further Physiotherapy/Rehabilitation will continue after the injection.

How Much Does it Cost?

An initial Physiotherapy Consultation/Treatment session at the clinic costs £48.00

The cost of a joint injection is £130

Any follow up Physiotherapy sessions cost £38.00
